Masa is a Marathi word for ‘fish’. The hydrodynamic curves of a fish are converted in the aerodynamic shape of this MASA. The evolved fins of MASA also acts as large mud guards for its wheels. Tightened curves at rear and little forward shifted visual mass gives MASA an agile stance. The backward curved narrowing LED headlights and boggy form gives the dynamic look and the downward curved chassis and fin shaped mud-guards gives the impression of ready to move appearance.
MASA is an electric vehicle. The front wheels are independently powered with electric motors which are synchronized with an ECU. The front wheels can be independently steered as well giving high maneuverability to MASA. High ground clearance along with independent torsion spring suspension for all three wheels is a recipe for a comfortable drive with MASA.
MASA is a fresh take on form and identity of electric vehicles. Electrical vehicles require a new language. A person driving an electric car should be noticed without fail. In a crowd driving vehicles whose forms have evolved and refined over years with a conventional power source, taking a limelight means breaking away from the common notion and practice of vehicle design.
Electric vehicles with current technology are different from conventional fuel vehicles in the way power is transmitted from power source to wheels. Even now hub motors are used in electric two-wheelers eliminating clutch and gearbox. MASA uses advanced high starting torque motors which also gives optimum performance for varying driving conditions. The base of MASA can be separated from its body which houses batteries and forms the chassis for mounting wheels, motors and suspension linkages.
MASA redefines the rules for vehicle design with new technology. It throws away the notion that every thing should fit in and look like a conventional known form of a car.
