Paris, occasional chair

Paris, occasional chai - Paris is occasional chair for the middle to high-end furniture market. The design pays homage to the form and aesthetic of classicism and Art nouveau architecture. Particular inspiration for the design is “Le Grand Palais”, one of Paris’s most visible landmarks, built for the 1900 Universal exhibition.
Through repetition of elements and alternation between negative and positive spaces, in my design I strived to achieve the lightness found in the glass and metal structure of “Le Grand Palais”. Without directly copying the architecture, the curves of the chair reflect the elegant curvilinear lines of the landmark. The lightness is not only visual, but physical. The frame of the chair is aluminum, which combined with the maple used for the seat and the back creates lightweight product.
Paris is occasional chair; its purpose is to make a statement and enhance a contemporary interior.
