One of my colleagues left the company. So I picked up the UX work in the middle of the project. I was the only UX force for this big project. Hence, I had to support several streams at the same time. I had frequent meetings with product owners from each stream to understand their requirements and provide UX deliverables. To have better comprehension on user behavioral pattern, I analyzed web analytics data and tea leaf data, against the requests. I demoed the findings, used flow diagram to guide the discussions and provided UX direction for development teams. Provided timely annotated wireframes to product owners. In addition, I initiated weekly meeting with each product owner to explore potential "demands" and prioritize assignments. Product owners liked this approach and told how helpful it was.
Above is Gap Analysis example. I worked with product owner closely to identify opportunities and gaps and prioritize them. To bridge the identified gaps, product owner had to reach out appropriate business for business rules. In this way, as UX person, I could work way ahead of the game and provide directions for development teams.
After a while, I noticed there were some glitches in QC which are unexpected from UX perspective. I believed it was not necessary to conduct usability testing for those glitches. We should utilize our users' time wisely. Also considered the project time constraint, therefore, I initiated heuristic evaluation for this project. As evaluation deliverable, I provided review feedback to the product owner and developers and prioritized findings with them together. Above are the finding examples.
