Healthcare Design Internship

During an extended internship at Erdman I’ve had the opportunity to experience many aspects of not only the healthcare design industry, but the design industry as a whole. The interior design department consisted of the director of interior design, a senior designer, and myself allowing me to closely follow and contribute to a majority of our projects. Projects ranged from small clinic infills to regional hospitals and surgery centers enabling me to experience a broad range of design levels and needs for each project. In the schematic design phase, my duties included floorplan and perspective renderings in photoshop, creating schemes, ordering samples, and making boards. After client decisions, I input their selections and the teams’ design decisions into Revit finish plans and schedules to create construction docments. I also communicated consistently with architects and project managers to keep up to date on design progress and issue construction bulletins when necessary.
