there is no box - i was talking with one of my best friends, a designer himself, about the limitations a designer in book publishing goes through, specifically, how they are told to think outside of the box, yet in reality, the sales force just puts them into a bigger one. angered by that, he says, "f*ck that then. don't design outside the box. design like there is no box." it was the best advice i was ever given.
book design - cover design for WW2 Journal
nike physics - the nike swoosh always interests me, in the manner that it can be interpreted in so many ways. though simply stated in its elegant curve, it can portray an infinity of possibilities, such as emotion, strength, speed, etc. this is one design exercise of seven that tries to express this idea.
Le Coste of Competition - One of my favorite designs. Originally it was supposed to read "Lacoste of Competition," but the Creative Director thought it was too strong of a jab. So, I twisted the phrase to reference Letigre, rather than it's scaly competition.

"That Asian Thing" movie poster - Movie poster design for a documentary about the "hidden voice," and perception, of asian entertainers in Chicago. My concept was to provide bright, bold imagery to hammer home the idea of asian culture running through an indifferent city, with the hopes that people would assume the cityscape is from an asian country as well (it's really Chicago).
Monte's Trattoria - Logo design for one of Soho's best italian spots in NY.
