The Rail Chair
The Railchair is a device that is comprised of several components. One part is the rail system. This system includes two rails located horizontally across the passenger seat, over the center console, and attached to the side of the driver’s seat. Each rail contains a sleeve-bearing carriage. This allows for the lift seat to slide horizontally from the passenger seat to the outside of the car. The top rail is attached to the headrest insert rods for more stability. Also, there are two posts that are connected vertically through the horizontal rails. These posts do not have a sleeve-bearing carriage but, unlike the horizontal rails, they contain an opening at the bottom which connects to the bolts both on the passenger chair and the driver’s chair. The purpose of this product is to make it easier for people to get from the passenger seat in a car into their wheelchairs.
