Gensler Chicago
After ten years in Chicago, Gensler moved to the Sullivan Center, a new office space that would accommodate the entire staff. "From Many, One" became the concept that was carried across the space.
The wall behind Gensler’s reception gives visitors brand recognition from the elevators while subtly celebrating the previous decade of project work to this point. Hundreds of architectural floorplans were pieced together and printed directly to sheets of steel to create a texture from a distance while capturing precise details when viewed from up close.
The open vista across the workspace provided an opportunity to play with scale in a dramatic way. The wall at the end of the open space called for an over scaled element, but a static image could have become tiresome over time. A changeable solution was designed with a coded grid printed on wall covering for placement of gradated pixel disks.
