Apartment Living - Apartment living is a range of flat packed furniture designed for the low to mid end of the market in Ireland and the UK. Through market research and focus groups it was clear that there was a large demand for furniture that was natural, solid, modern and functional. We decided to focus on a style that emphasised large visible joints that would form the chief aesthetics of the range. The images above show one of the final concepts along with some of the development sketch produced during the project.
Apartment Living - One of the major problems of living in a modern apartment is lack of space. Within this range a series of products were developed that focused on the space saving solutions. Above is a dining table that folds in half to create a table console or a small wall table that would greatly reduce the amount of space that a normal 6-seated table would take up.
HP Sage - HP Sage is a non-intrusive diagnostic tool that evaluates a users minerals and vitamin levels by the use of Biosensor. It than informs the user of any deficiencies or changes in their vitamin levels. It can help prevent illness by suggesting recipes that contain foods that are high in the necessary vitamins and minerals. The above images shows sketches of the injection moulding details and details of how the gearing mechanism works.
Luma - The main influence for the Luma was found in the flame a candle itself. The forever moving and dancing flame is emphasised through the ribbed effect, and when a candle is placed inside every flicker from the candle is different. The shape of the flame is reproduced in the overall form. The smoke of the flame is represented in the main sweeping cut that gives us a peek into the candle. The overall affect of the design offers many different faces to light, whether placed beside a wall, on a table or simply placed in the hallway to welcome quest. The ideal goal of the design is to show the beauty of natural candlelight and natural crystal can be combined to produce a contemporary usage of two traditional materials.
