GM Radio Center Stack - Theme Sketch - The objective of this production program was to research, design, and develop a new radio center stack that would be implemented into a particular vehicle platform. Our team was tasked with the radio’s logic and control layout. I was also tasked with researching GM corporate reference, competitor benchmarking, electronic consumer products, and brand aesthetic language. This radio face plate solution was one of two early original theme sketches used to drive the final proposals.
GM Radio Center Stack - Theme Sketch - This was one of two theme sketches used to drive the final proposals. Semi clear colored soft touch button details along with LED light pipe technology were used to differentiate between trim levels.
GM Radio Center Stack - Logic and Control Layout - Once Logic and Control layout was established, aesthetic themes were established over package.
GM Radio Center Stack - Sketches - The themes were refined from quick theme sketches to more refined solutions regarding shape and placement of certain button controls within the desired matrix.
GM Radio Center Stack - Trend Research / Consumer Electronic Products - I conducted research of consumer electronic trends which led to shaping the evolution of aesthetics of the radio concept. The collected data influenced shape, color, finish, and button details.
GM Radio Center Stack - Trend Research / Color & Materials, Surface Language, and Benchmarking - Product language research and trends provide direction for material choices regarding look and feel. Competitor benchmarking gave the team a look into what was currently out in the marketplace and what the customer perception was about those various products.

LEAR SEATING CORP Interior Concept - A concern with touch screens in vehicle interiors is the lack of tactile feel. The problem is that the driver often needs to take their eyes off of the road to obtain positive visual feed back regarding screen selection. "Pop-up Button technology" addresses this concern. This interior concept is an example of how this technology may influence interior aesthetics.

LED mood lighting in strategic locations enhance the illusion of floating objects throughout the interior at night. The objective was to make the interior feel more spacious and create a unique aesthetic in the process.

The collected research was also used for color and material finish suggestions. The center stack and rear passenger controls are based on "Skinput" technology that enables virtually any surface to become a touchscreen control panel.
