Urban agriculture modules for the food safety 2009
To recover farmers lost by violent displacement, together with the need for food safety in poor neighborhoods of Bogotá, inspired me to develop this solution as BA graduation project.
The shape of the tree, one of the most effective structures in nature (decreasing size of the structure by height), gravity to bring water over the leaves and efficient watering cans to reuse water; three concept elements that brought life to the vertical crop module. All set in a system that increases space in terraces of urban houses who lack of appropriate land to plant herbs and vegetables. The shape of a tree replicated using several modules (kitchen garden forest) will give the displaced people a way to rekindle some oft heir habitat before being displaced, helping to build of a new cityscape full of “trees”.
