Product adaptation for children with neuro-motor impairments 2016

As a team we started from an Ikea product: Ekorre (The rocking moose) and one child in therapy in TOG: Vittorio. He is a kid suffering from cerebral palsy, for this reason; he cannot sit or hold conveniently; making him to be likely to fall down while sitting.

Considering the limitations and opportunities; our goal was to develop add-ons to improve the toy for the use of Vittorio; we developed and idea divided in three components:

1.The seat: With the back support is a one-piece add-on to the basic seat of the moose. 2.The Handles: Designed to be more adjustable and ergonomic plus the textured fabric on it helps him develop the sense of differences in textures and feel. 3.The Music Box: Designed to use the rocking movement of the moose to produce the sound of a moose stepping.

Project developed in Domus Academy for the workshop: Advanced design and processes (10x10x10) by Juan Pablo Ayala, Akshay Pradeepkumar Velliyancheri, Renny Fritriaristi and Luxnara Yaovaphankul.
