Haiti Idea Challenge

The project called for the design of two different force expressive modular structures. I took into consideration the ease of transportation and assembly in the Haitian mountainous terrain. From the structural point, I analyzed different materials available in the area and created supporting elements that managed to create thresholds between spaces and connections to the exterior. Socially, I looked for flexibility of expansion which produced different combinations in which the modules could be attached without requiring extra members. In the eco-social aspect, I sought for modular panels that provided ventilation, view to the exterior and ease of cleanliness. The result, was two modular structures that rely on trussed arches for stability dragging the force efficiently to the ground, resisting lateral and vertical forces.
