> Brief based on redesigning a design classic, in this case the British Pillarbox, to bring it’s styling into the 21st Century, and make it more relevant to todays culture. My proposal was based on the rise of mobile technology, the increase in the amount of packages sent through sites like Ebay and other online businesses, plus the decline in letters being sent.
> My redesign takes advantage of the latest Bluetooth protocols and mobile payment technology, with integrated weighing scales, to streamline the payment and delivery process of small to medium packages.
> Some extra features include E-ink displays which could display richer information for the user, other than just the clearing times, whilst still saving power and retaining readability. Also a Dual key smart lock to ease the job of the postal worker, whilst still maintaining strict security measures and eliminating the large amount of keys.
