Platter-Vessel
Freshman Year: Design and build a pairing of a platter & vessel that considers the hand. Platter: design a plane for serving, offering, and containing. Contain as a platter, not
as a vessel. Considerations: fair planar flow, fluid transition, contrast, contain, volume, and the verbs offer, serve.
Vessel: using lessons from a rotoform exercise, design a vessel for storing or processing that considers
the hand, which works for or with the platter. Considerations: core,
axis, intersection & joint, and the verbs: carry, contain, seal, dispense, scrape, scoop, crush. The form should embody
the semantics of the action required and the relationship to the human hand, and the form must do the work
