Masterplanning
Large scale masterplanning is a collaborative process and I have been lucky to work with some of the best architects in Scotland. The principles of a good masterplan can be demonstrated at a smaller scale such as Westercommon (1) where a thorough understanding of users needs and demographics shaped the design of the external works and a new community hub. On a larger scale I have worked with architects and engineers on an integrated masterplan for Dalmarnock (2). This plan incorporates a regional SUDS system and a hierarchy of spaces and drainage treatments integrated with the various public spaces. At over 500ha Ravenscraig (3) remains one of Europe's largest derelict sites. I have been involved in the development of Area Planning Briefs for the first five phases of development, including integrating the public realm proposals with drainage and a site wide ecology plan.
