LVIA and LCA
One of my key areas of work is Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment and Landscape Character Appraisal. This often involves measured photographs and models of proposed developments. At Nigg (1) the new jetty and vessel were modeled to show the impact on key views. Other sample projects include a new hotel in Aviemore (2). On a broader scale I was responsible for the production of the Ross and Cromarty Landscape Character Assessment (3) for Scottish Natural Heritage. I also undertook an LVIA for a new ferry terminal at Cairnryan (4) where I also appeared as an expert witness at a public inquiry. Other assessments and inquiries include a new submarine berth at Faslane and a number of open cast mining proposals.
