Akeer Matthews Memorial Bench. - This was a freelance project I did in conjunction with Mahany Welding in Rochester, NY. I was commissioned to design a skateboard-themed bench as a memorial piece for Akeer Matthews.
Akeer was a student at the East Irondequoit Middle School who loved to skateboard. He was tragically killed in October of 2010 when he was hit by a car while skateboarding. It was important for me to capture his personality in the piece and to create a place where everyone can go to and
remember him.
