BRIEF- Develop concepts and visual embodiments towards a future iconic bicycle. The design impetus for this comes from the iconic status of the Moulton cycle. The generating theme should be: Irony as a transforming agent in personal transportation.
The Ironic Bike is a radiator which is a metaphor, it heats the room as a car would heat the world with the gasses released.
Central heating is also another large contributor to global warming, which makes the bicycle design ironic as bicycles can be used to look after the environment.
Another part of it's 'ironic-ness' is the fact that it is mounted on the wall and does not work, as you expect a bicycle. This also links to the company Moulton, where it is not uncommon to see a Moulton bike suspended on the wall, never to be ridden.
To keep the essence of Moulton within the design several parts of the basic design was kept, such as the small wheels and saddle and handle bars.
