My senior project involved designing a product to help children become more engaged in the organizational process within the home. The idea was to get children more involved in the ownership of their possessions by giving them a personalized "box" to put things into.
This is a close-up view of the interior compartment of nook. The seat cushion serves as the lid for this storage area, where children might be expected to store items such as gloves, hats, and scarves.
An open-air compartment was designed and placed in the lower section of nook to store children's shoes. This allows shoes to air dry and keeps the mess off of the floor.
This exploded view gives a sense of how nook is constructed and how the pieces interact with one another.
Here I explored a few different color variations using a simple two-color palette for each nook. The variation allows consumers to personalize the storage unit to their own taste.
Using a basic two-color palette, I created a simple logo for nook. The infinity symbol is used to convey the endless storage capabilities of this children's furniture piece.

nook - Entryway Storage System

nook is a personal entryway storage solution designed for children. Intended to assist parents in teaching their children the importance of organization, nook has a simple sit-and-store design. Kids will learn to take ownership of everyday items such as shoes, hats, and gloves, and still have a place to sit when putting on their shoes.
