Bodoni Playing Cards
Using only the typeface Bodoni, I created a full deck of playing cards and packaging.
The abstract foreground graphics were designed using letter forms from Bodoni. The colorful abstract shapes in the background were collaged from interesting negative spaces the foreground shapes organically created.
Staying true to the typefaces’ revival period, the aesthetic evokes an expressive 1920’s feel. The colors and forms were inspired by a Wasily Kandinsky painting. (On White II,1923).
