IKEA bookcase - Design a bookcase using IKEA's design language and keeping in mind their packaging goals. This bookcase follows their goals for packaging by using "cradle" supports that can be "cradled" inside each other to take up minimal packaging space. The design is also very simple and easy to assemble with the cradles and spacers to follow IKEA's design language.
CAT underground mining truck - Senior Studio project for Heavy Equipment. Focused toward underground mining this project was to design a truck that can combine 3 mining vehicles into 1. Drilling, blasting and debris removal are all done separately as where this design can drill, lay the explosives from a safe cab and then remove the debris all with 1 vehicle and 1 operator. The cabin also utilizes a safety drop where in the case of a cave-in the cabin drops into the vehicle housing to keep the operator safe.
CAT underground mining truck - The final model was made from multiple materials including 20lb modeling foam, hard plastics and acrylic plastic. The model's drill flips up and out to show how the drill is used for operation. The front bucket moves in and out and can be pulled tightly against the front to protect the front from debris. The back end also articulates for sharp turns and houses the vehicle's diesel engine.
Dell digital camera - Inspired from the soft forms of a rose petal, this camera was focused on an easy-to-use interface and the grip and feel of the product in the user's hand. Now that camera's are mostly digital we don't need to follow the square "film across the back" ancient design and are free to explore more ergonomically designed products.
