John Doerr talk promotional poster
The Uggos: debut CD packaging - CD packaging for the Uggos' Crazy Zoo: Music from The Strangerhood. Soundtrack to an online animation series made using the Sims computer game. This is the interior spread of the 2-panel digipack. The cover artwork was done by Heather Cristofaro, the layout and interior artwork by myself. The overall layout was driven by the sheer amount of stuff that had to be included and the resulting need to overlap and cram in text in order to keep to a 2-panel layout.
PrimeTime Lacrosse mailer - A dual-purpose self-mailer for a non-profit organization that sponsors lacrosse leagues and camps in the Boston area: the exterior panels are an informational mailer aimed at coaches and parents, the interior is a lacrosse action poster aimed at potential players. This is an example of a job that made me wish I were involved more upstream, where I might have been able to convince them to drop about half of the text and let their website handle the bulk of the communication work.

PrimeTime Lacrosse ad - Full-page ad for PrimeTime Lacrosse, aimed more squarely at the teen male lacrosse player.
Summer Shack catering bochures - Jasper White's Summer Shack is a chain of upscale seafood restaurants with a down-home style. With the launch of their catering services, we developed the look and feel of the collateral pieces to fit in with the rustic/retro vibe of the restaurants themselves
Summer Shack catering brochure (detail) - Summer Shack were also unwitting victims of my patented "here, let me redesign your business cards" trick as I sent along a card re-worked along similar lines with the initial brochure proof, which they later adopted.
HBS India Conference Materials - In addition to all of the print materials (flyers, program books, posters etc.) this was the first conference that I contributed purely electronic assets to. I re-did all of their web graphics and managed their HTML email marketing campaign.
Dynamic Women in Business Conference materials - A complete suite of conference materials for the largest student event at HBS (over 1000 attendees). Package included several rounds of posters, a 100+ page program book, design of all giveaway items such as tote bags and an engraved crystal plaque, HTML marketing emails, and newspaper and magazine advertisements. The design at right is for the 2007-8 conference posters; I've now worked on three consecutive WSA conferences.
Urban AdvenTours ads - Urban AdvenTours are a small local company that conducts themed bike tours of Boston and bicycle rentals. I developed this ad to strike a balance between their edgy, raw style and the more upscale audience that they hoped to reach with this ad placement. This ad also shows an example of something that I am sort of notorious for: the subliminal up-sell. I added a faux business card to the ad, and they liked it so much they adopted it. No luck on the buttons though.
Broad Institute lecture posters - The Broad Institute is a joint research endeavor of MIT and Harvard University, and their lecture series is a pretty high-profile event in the Boston area scientific community. I was particularly proud to have found a photo of the correct type of yeast cell for the background image.
Broad Institute lecture poster #2 - The second poster for the Yeast Genomics lecture. As soon as the posters were hung in the Broad building it was pointed out by one of their scientists that the DNA helix was spiraling in the wrong direction and we had to re-do the poster from scratch. So much for my science career.
HBS VCPE Trek poster series - Three treks, three cities, three days to complete the job. A grid-based layout, bold images and a color scheme based on the primary image drive this series of on-demand posters.
Century RE Listing Sheet - Fun fact: I took all of the photographs used in this piece while standing in the middle of Massachusetts Avenue on a 5-degree below zero day after the professional photographer we had retained bowed out.
Africa Business Conference materials - A complete suite of conference materials for the second-largest student event at HBS. Package included several rounds of posters, a 90+ page program book, design of all giveaway items such as tote bags, HTML marketing emails, and newspaper and magazine advertisements. I've now worked with the Africa Club at HBS three years running to produce all of their conference materials.
HPPS Marketing Piece - Marketing piece developed for Harvard Printing & Publications Services. Intended to counter confusion after the university unveiled their "Preferred Print Vendor" program, which did not include HPPS, their in-house printing plant.
