Low Cost PFD for Low Resource Countries
A live brief was issued by the RNLI to design a Personal Floatation Device (PFD) for flood rescue responders in Bangladesh. Current PFDs are costly and it was imperative to produce a low-cost alternative for low-middle income countries that still met the current ISO standards in the UK.
This product is primarily focused on Bangladesh and will be supplied to organisations such as the Bangladesh fire and civil defence as well as any other flood rescue responders in low resource areas in the future.
This PFD is a low-cost solution that still meets the minimum standards with regards to ISO EN:12402, allowing for low resource organisations, to have the correct personal protective equipment to carry out flood rescue safely and efficiently
without the added expenditure, having a manufacturing price of £9.56.
