chocolate and wine pairings - Not having internet access to find an image of wine and chocolate and not having a photo either, I decided to create this illustration to accompany a food story that ran in the printed version of The Beaufort Gazette's Food & Friends feature section, which ran Wednesdays.
Cyberdating - I created this photo illustration for a nursing magazine. The computer image is a stock photo that I modified and added the can of pencils. I decided to use the headline and subhead on the screen as the caution sign, which was recreated within Illustrator and imported into Photoshop.

Illinois 'sexting' - I created this photo illustration to accompany an editorial for Suburban Life Publications discussing how Illinois has updated its House Bill 4583, which offers counseling or community service to minors who violate the act (of sexting), effective Jan. 1, 2011. I purposely chose a photo that wasn't too risque and omitted other information that would get lost. it ran both online and in print.

About 80 percent of baby boomers are unhappy with the nation's directions and their children's future.

Illinois budget deficit - I created this graphic to accompany an editorial for Suburban Life Publications about the direction of Illinois' budget deficit. The level purposely dips and rises since the deficit is between $13 billion and $15 billion.
House Bill 1869 - I created this illustration to go with an editorial about how House Bill 1869 proposes local town governments in Illinois would web publish legal notices instead of in local newspapers. However, the towns still would be required to publish a notice in newspapers to include the URL for the posting. I used Your Town Government to signify all villages and the file folder symbolizes the paper notices. The web browser is built, too (not a screen grab).
This Sports Champs graphic was created to accompany a lengthy sports story for Suburban Life Media. It also ran in the daily newspaper, the Northwest Herald.
