Fidelity.com Responsive Redesign of Accounts & Trade Experience

PROBLEM: As part of the responsive redesign of Fidelity.com, the UXD team tried numerous ways to address the massive Positions grid, a table of thirteen or more columns, and potentially hundreds of columns. The business stakeholders had a long list of requirements and goals for the table.

RESULT: The redesign resulted in a 75% increase in mobile engagement. The Positions grid is now the most viewed page on all of Fidelity.com.

PROCESS: Collaborating with a team of information architects, visual designers, usability researchers, front-end developers, I provided responsive expertise from my rwd dev background. Research users & content/context, sketch, IA, determine min + max values for fields, semantically code content, iterate, visual design, QA for accessibility, conduct user testing, enhance, iterate; we designed the table to be as fast as possible leveraging CSS customized for the min &+ max values of each column.
