Recycled Lighting Design
These lights were made as a result of extensive research into common waste-stream items and their post use-life uses. Plastic bottle caps are often made of two polymers (HDPE & LDPE) making them unable to be recycled. Also, plastic bottle caps all have a slight draft angle to them to for molding purposes. By utilizing this draft angle and assembling the caps together a spherical shape naturally take shape. The varied colors create a unique lighting effect. Physical media such as CD's are becoming outdated. Several experiments with CD's led to the CD chandelier which uses LED lights to create an ethereal effect.
