The Mystic Krewe of the Druid is the Tuscaloosa chapter of a group that works to raise money for AIDS research/awareness charities. They needed a cover for their 2013 Bal Masque program, as well as a ticket design. The program itself is a booklet of full page, half page, and quarter page ads for sponsors of the event, so we weren't responsible for laying out its contents .
The theme for the event was a "white party." MDK didn't want their materials to explicitly state that it as a charity event going towards AIDS organizations, but I felt there should be some connection between the cause and the materials.
I decided to make a shade of red the largest part of the color palette, since the color red has been associated with AIDS awareness since the early nineties. I felt it would be a good way to keep the MDK event connected to the work they do.
