I am generally not a fashion apparel designer, but when my daughter came to me wanting my help finding a prom dress it seemed all we could find where poor quality, but expensive dresses.
At some point I think she commented, "Dad, you're a designer. Why can't you design my dress?" I think I said something like, "yeah right!"
However as she kept looking and not finding anything that was 1) modest enough, 2) good quality, 3) fair price, the idea of designing and making a dress started looking better and better. So I decided to do it.
My daughter was a very demanding client, we went through 8 rounds of samples of the bodice before we were both satisfied with the fit and the look.
