KIPP Dubois Collegiate Academy is a not-for-profit charter high school in Philadelphia that focuses on getting inner city kids to and through college with dedication and a strong sense of community. KIPP was chosen to receive a $10,000 donation from IKEA South Philadelphia as part of the national Life Improvement Project Contest. The funds were used to design and install a Library/Resource Room and a large shared office for the KIPP Through College program as well as a smaller meeting area for the college counselors of KIPP Through College. The Library was to include an area for individual and group instruction, a lounge space for reading and studying, computer stations, and of course, book storage. The KIPP Through College office had existing desks and conference table and gained new chairs, a lounge area and storage and display cases. Brightly colored textiles and furniture were used in both spaces to appeal to the teenage students trendy aesthetics.P
