"The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree"
To change up the classic literal self-portrait, I decided to create a self-portrait that has a play on words and involves more important aspects of my life beyond myself. My concept: “The Apple Doesn’t Fall Far from the Tree.” I have a daughter who loves to follow everything I do; I paint, she colors: I bring out my computer, she brings out her electronic tablet; I eat a cupcake, she obviously eats one too! So I created something to represent both of us and our reflections of each other, because she is in essence a smaller me.
