Each of eight candles represent one night of the holiday. An additional candle is lit every night, starting with one candle on the first night, two on the second, and so on. The candles are lit from right to left. Traditionally, the eight candles representing each night stand at the same height. For the final designs, two menorahs will be made. One will stand on a surface and the other will be hung from the wall.
