The program for this studio was to provide a new market stall design for the Florence Street Market. I created a stall that could remain on the street at night when not in use, varying from the current system which requires them to be put away each night.
The stalls transform into a stepped terrace at night, working with the natural slope of the site in front of the Chiesa di San Lorenzo.
Each stall has a movable canopy/sail, which they can move the position as they see fit throughout the day.
These diagrams show the the amount of facade seen as the canopies are raised and lowered. This creates an ever changing facade for the Chiesa di San Lorenzo, which to this day is devoid of a finished facade.
