Spindelben
Brief -
Using a 150 x 150mm piece of guilding metal construct a wearable piece of work .
Initially I was interested in the cold, unforgiving nature of the material I was confronted with. Guilding metal is not something associated with comfort or beauty and so when I began experimenting with the material; it was in relation to the senses and how the tactile qualities and limitations of this material can be utilised to enhance or stimulate the senses. This piece appears to sit uncomfortably on the skin - playing with the idea of being uncomfortable with one’s own identity. It mirrors the contours of the face and stimulates the senses due to the cold and sharp sensation on the skin, contrasting with the typical stereotypes of jewellery.
