The big idea behind plus1 is community. We are passionate about improving student outcomes through supporting programs and infrastructure tied to these, but we believe that the best way to achieve this is to acknowledge and value the idea that we, plus1’s members, its committee and contributors, are part of a community in and of its own self. We work on our education projects as a community, but we are also here to support each other; to encourage, consult, support and develop our own learning and ideas, whether these be creative, professional or otherwise. Our community provides us a forum that works for us as well as working towards providing better access to education through working with our international partners.
Thinking about education in a depository way doesn’t work, that is, that we have and give knowledge, or we have and give money only. Education is much bigger than that. It pertains to sharing, awareness, networking, engaging with one another, reflection.
