BOY is a now-defunct indie band that was based in Austin, TX. The logo was inspired by a doodle I learned in elementary school where you make the word "boy" into a drawing of a boy's head.
The site I designed is minimalist and interactive. The logo is painted with vivid color when the user mouses over it. And clicking a nav link shifts the page around to a new viewing plane. I was pretty jazzed when fans starting sending screen captures of their version of the logo.
The postcard is an odd mix of modern and traditional. I call it "Grandmadern." This gross contrast was meant to grab the attention of people who are already bombarded with band paraphernalia in Austin's music scene. The band would just scatter them around the venue during shows. The cards helped buzzed fans to remember the band name, drive them to the website and ultimately download some songs.
