Deng is a prototype for a lamp design. The idea behind the project is to allow people to easily adjust the spread of light from a lamp to create different moods when intended. One possibility is to use dimmer switches however this involves rewiring of all the switches in the house.
Therefore my solution was to create a lamp shade that could do it for you.
During the development of this project I realised the potential chinese fans could have for the design. Creating illuminating glows and interesting shadows as well as having the perfect in built facility for collapsing in on themselves to reduce the light intensity.
The project is still only in the prototype phase and is a project I wish to take further.
