The brief was to design an mpv/van based on an Audi a3, carrying over the base of the windscreen, the lower a pillar and the front wheel position of the donor vehicle. In addition to this, I also had to design a variant targeted at customers with a specific lifestyle or profession, for which i chose to look into personal trainers, incorporation various weight racks in the rear of the vehicle.
Changes I made from the a3 donor vehicle include raising the roof height and in turn increasing the boot space, redesigning the rear front lights to incorporate a continuous graphic line around the vehicle emphasised by the darker strips around the grill. Taking inspiration from the R8 and a1 I also included a roof and rear door colour contrast.
The clay model I created for this brief was worked on over an eleven week period alongside other projects. Working with clay allowed me to get a better understanding of what I wanted the Audi PT to look like and continue to develop the design.
