BLACK IS BEAUTY

During my stay in New York (USA) in 2003 I went on an expedition with a pencil and camera. What resulted were countless drawings of the city and its inhabitants. I engaged with the people, their mindset, their culture and its forms. With the pencil I fathom the boundary between esthetics and cultural image. It is a mixture of fashion, lifestyle and street art. The strong contrast between black and white is ruptured through lines and at the same time it connects the character of the pictured person with the contents of the whole. Every picture holds its own story which is told in an illustrative manner.
