AWA - Temporary Cabin
This project was developed as the final project for the Product Design Course graduation. AWA is a temporary cabin designed for temporary shelters in Brazil, where the main point was to develop a cabin that offers privacy and that changes according to the will of the user. Other important point was to use materials that were easily found, like blankets, ropes and cardboard.
The project was based on the lack of security mesures of Brazil, even so disaster, specially natural disasters occurs every year.
AWA has two different parts - the first one is the one that uses a folded cardboard as a roof that provides a semi privacy for the user. The second part is a mattress made of blankets, cardboard and flour glue - that can has it shape modified as the order of the ropes are changed. So the mattress can be folded as two types of sofas. AWA means "circle or humanity" in Tupi-Guarani, the first Brazilian language, symbolizing the ability of the Brazilians to move always forward and its unity.
