Abena and Kojo - I normally shy away from portraits and this is the only (so far) one of my wife and little boy.
Gravity's Rainbow - This image was inspired by a passage from Thomas Pynchon's 'Gravity's Rainbow'. Not sure why, but it stuck in my head for years before I finally got it down on paper.
Angel - This was originally formed part of a series of images concerning the idea of an angel coming down to the city. This was the only one that has made it into a full-fledged illustration. Still debating whether to re-work the other initial ideas.
Don't bite off more than you can chew - I came up with this idea when trying to make a good luck card for my wife who was starting her first day as a teacher. Kind of went beyond that into something bigger. Not really sure it's supposed to be that profound. Just was drawn to the reversal of sizes and importance.
Number 9 Dream - I painted this after reading David Mitchell's book of the same name. The city is of course Tokyo, and the symbol is '9' in Japanese. If you read the book, you'll get the idea!
The Skater - This image popped into my head whilst reading a passage in another David Mitchell book, Black Swan Green. I throughly recommend you to read the book and not just this passage.
The Silent Busker - This was posted on Illustration Friday's website, under the theme of 'quiet'. I was walking down Bold Street in Liverpool, an area where noisy street performers are often a feature of a Saturday afternoon. Nothing wrong with that, but liked the idea of a reversal of the norm.
