Graha Mandala Kahuripan (WJACC Competition)
West Java IAI (The Indonesian Institute of Architects) held this cultural center design competition on March 2017. The project location was at Pahlawan St., Bandung. DAP participated in this competition, including me in the design team.
The main concept is adopting Mandala Kabuyutan, the ancient Javanese architecture order calculation as the base framework in form making and functional arrangement. This ancient architectural principal always used by ancient building and temple in Java. What we wanted to solve was how to make it value can be blend in appropriate manner with this cultural center tipology, competition demands and current architectural trend.
