Bamiyan "The Place of Shining Light"
UNESCO with Ministry of Information and Culture of Afghanistan held this cultural center design competition on November 2014. The site location was at Bamiyan City, Afghanistan. DAP participated in this competition, including me in the design team.
There were 4 main concept in our design. First is to respect the Buddhas statues that surrounding Bamiyan valley as building and view orientation. All of Buddhas statues is world heritage property. Second is to create spatial sequence that can provide various peoples activity for art (i.e. dance, music and craft). Third is designing with local material. And last is implementing green technology and zero energy waste.
