Herbarium Research Center, Benmore Gardens, Scotland
This year-long project was one of the most important projects from the three years I have been studying architecture. Situated within site of one of Scottish historical botanical gardens Benmore Gardens (llinked with the Botanical Gardens in Edinburgh), the building design evolves around linking the Herbarium facility (a environmentally controlled space that archives pressed plant species) to the research centre through transparency and interaction, bringing in the physical environment of the site into the building. It is a research center that facilitates all users, from students, visitors, researchers to experts, bringing them into the beauty of the natural surroundings and of the process of preserving species.
