Dell shook the PC market when it launched its first convertible tablet computer. Targeted for field-based users, Dell was in desperate need of a rugged case that would protect the device against drops while being used in both laptop and tablet modes.
I was appointed Project Manager on the XT case. In less than 5 months I drove the project from concept sketch to production. The design not only offered 24x7 protection, it increased user productivity by allowing the device to be held comfortably for extended periods of time. It also provided a range of carry options including a handle, ergonomic shoulder strap and hands-free harness.
The Fieldmate XT case, along with its successor the Fieldmate XT2, has been a best seller.
