This mix of highly trained and helpful customer service with a full product line from a single technology manufacturer foreshadowed the later retail offerings Gateway Country and Apple Retail Stores.

Spalding > Your Ball Fixture - Spalding wanted a way to merchandise their new synthetic leather basketballs in footwear and fashion specialty retailers like FootLocker and Champs. The gravity fed display has the footprint of a mannequin, easily fitting into established planograms. The metallic printed board panel featured half of an actual ball affixed to it, so customers could palm the revolutionary sythnetic surface. The fixture was designed so panels could be changed for new messaging.

IBM > Aptiva S Fixture - Beyond Basic Black (way beyond). The IBM Aptiva S was the sexiest consumer machine that Big Blue had ever produced. Gone was the boring putty color and chunky CRT, replaced by a sleek flat panel and stealth black exterior. This powder coated steel display wedge was designed to showcase the system at trade shows, sponsored marketing events like the US Open, and special promo appearances; like on the floor of the NY Stock exchange and Grand Central Station.
