Hal Seeger Memorial Card - March 2005
Hal Seeger (May 16, 1917 - March 13, 2005) began his career as a ghostwriter for Bud Counihan’s Betty Boop comic strip and then moved on to become Assistant Animator at Fleischer Studios, working on the feature, “Gulliver’s Travels”. During WWII, Hal was in the Army Signal Corps along with many other film professionals. From that time on and into the '50’s, he was a writer for live-action films, including 6 geared toward black audiences, working with Cab Calloway. Hal Seeger Productions opened in NYC in the late '50’s and specialized in TV commercials. In the early '60s, Hal Seeger began producing cartoons for syndication and Saturday morning television, including a ABC’s “The Milton The Monster Show,” and “Batfink”. During that time, Hal Seeger Productions employed many prominent New York animators, designers and voice talent, including; Myron Waldman, Jim Tyer, Johnny Gentilella, Shamus Culhane, Morey Reden, Izzy Klein, Robert Owen, Jack Mercer, and Dayton Allen.
