Belleville Daily Newspaper - This Newspaper was a recreated artifact used in a book I art directed, wrote, laid out and bound myself. Modeled after a 1940's Chicago Tribune it is accurate in placement, fonts used, articles and ads used in a newspaper of that time.

Undaunted Courage, table of contents - This spread is one of the first in the book Undaunted Courage, a book and topic I researched, art directed, recreated over 25 1940's artifacts from that time, wrote, laid out, printed and bound into a hardcover book.

Undaunted Courage, spread 1 - This spread shows a 1940's map of the US and the route the family of Undaunted Courage's hero took from Rhode Island to Illinois. The document on the left side of the spread is a replica of a 1918 birth certificate as well as a photo of the hero and his sister as young children on the right layout.

Undaunted Courage, spread 2 - On the left of this spread, the hard bound journal of the hero is seen. This journal was another artifact created for the making of Undaunted Courage and a way to engage the reader into the personal life of the book's hero. On the right hand side of the spread the soldier's diploma is shown and because he was an electrical engineer, a plane's electrical map is seen as the backdrop of the spread.

Undaunted Courage, spread 3 - The backdrop of this spread is that of an old airrade map of Europe during WWII. The postcard on the right was an artifact I created from an image I took in England and aged to appear old and as though a postcard instead of a photo. The left hand photo is also one that I took and manipulated to appear authentic from the 1940's.

LIVE Magazine, cover - Modeled after a 1940's Life Magazine cover, the fonts, colors and placement of text and images were all carefully considered before placing as to give the aesthetic of the time. This rendered artifact was created to mirror a 1940's Life magazine in size, scanned, resized and placed in a book I wrote about a WWII hero.

LIVE Magazine, spread - This article was written and based from a character I created for the book Undaunted Courage. The layout, fonts and placement of text are similar to that of a 1940's Life magazine spread.
