Researched and incorporated users' favorite features from PageMaker, initially via special "InDesign PageMaker Edition" and "PageMaker Plug-in" versions that added PageMaker's data merge, bullet and numbering features to InDesign, and provided PageMaker-oriented help topics, fonts and templates.
Eighty templates by award-winning designers were chosen to be showcased in product to highlight template browser feature. Template browser allows users to store and catalogue their and others' templates for future reference and access. This popular feature was included in all subsequent versions of InDesign and later evolved into its own application.

Adobe InDesign Pagemaker Edtion

2003-2004

Role: Interaction Design, User Research

Challenge: Adobe ceased all development of PageMaker in 2004 and strongly encouraged users to migrate to InDesign.

Strategy: To ease the transition, I researched and incorporated users' favorite features from PageMaker, initially via special "InDesign PageMaker Edition" and "PageMaker Plug-in" versions that added PageMaker's data merge, bullet and numbering features to InDesign, and provided PageMaker-oriented help topics, fonts and templates.

Results: From 2005 these features were bundled into InDesign CS2, which was offered at half-price to existing PageMaker customers.
I submitted eleven patents for UI designs while at Adobe.
