Davison _ Boats 5 This digital painting (1104X736 jpg.) rendered in PhotoshopCS5 was originally a stock digital photograph. It was a class project in which each class member had to choose a photograph of choice and manipulate it digitally to simulate a painting. The painting could simulate a water color, oil, or pastel… project. The great pleasure and challenge of this project was the doing of it. I’m still working on digital painting techniques. Traditional studio painting is one of my fortes and most of my professional work. I am still challenged by the use of digital tablets but have been amazed at how much one can do with a Wacom tablet and pen.
Davison_Generic artist logo 7 This is the logo I created for an imaginary entourage of itinerate Muralists.. The reason I felt particularly good about this logo is it exemplifies a certain minimalist iconography that I had been searching for a long time. I hope it bears the test of being scalable, useful in either black and white or color. The image was originally a photograph of an artist holding a paint brush. The image was manipulated in Photoshop until it lost its photographic purpose and became emblematic. I tried to capture a nuance of the artist thinking and measuring the old fashion way, hand on hip and brush and thumb.
Davison_let It Snow 8 This cover was created as a class project in COMM393 This cover for a hardback novel by a know writer Sedaris was fun to create. Some in class had read his many works and relished doing a cover for this work. The class had to read the story and come up with an original cover for the story. I created many. Some posted photographs of snow scenes in various locations but I settled on the more graphic image because the story was a bit weird. I hope you have the time and interest to read it. If you look carefully you might see an image of a snowman winking and smiling.
