For my 2nd project in my Idea & Expression course, we were assigned to make a light (again with paper). My idea revolves around the concept of giving light a "solid feel", much inspired by the Seed Cathedral in Shanghai.
Setting up the LED lights in parallel was one thing, but crafting the columns with thin paper and glue and assembling the base was no easy feat. I wanted the light to be unobstructed by its parts (i.e. the power adapter and switch etc), so I fitted everything inside the base (hence the base is hollow), even making a switch opening at the bottom, so that it remains out of sight. I also used many calculations and constants, like the golden ratio, sine waves etc. to create a shape that will be subconsciously "just natural".
